Fort Lauderdale chooses Rhodes
A Fort Lauderdale-based health benefits consulting firm said the city of
Fort Lauderdale has awarded it a second contract to handle design and
placement of employee health programs for more than 1,500 city staffers.
The Rhodes Insurance Group said the city hired it two years ago to help
eliminate a $13 million deficit.
"Through such changes as a new health plan provider, new benefit designs
and higher employee and employer contributions, the deficit is estimated
to be paid off one and a half years earlier than planned," the company
said.
In a memo recommending Rhodes' contract renewal, the firm said the city
described it as having "provided very satisfactory services to the city
under the existing contract."
The company said the three-member selection committee unanimously
recommended it over two other companies that submitted proposals.
