MDC chooses Rhodes Insurance
The Board of Trustees of Miami Dade College has jumped the county border
to rehire a Fort Lauderdale-based health benefits consulting firm.
The Rhodes Insurance Group said it is to design and place employee
benefit programs for the college's more than 2,500 full-time employees
on seven campuses.
The company said it has been working with the college since 1992 to
review and develop benefits plans that are both cost effective and
employee oriented.
Rhodes also has experience with educational institutions in its home
county: Broward Community College and Nova Southeastern University. The
firm also works for the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill and
Miramar in Broward and Aventura in Miami-Dade.
According to the written consent agenda item issued by the MDC board,
the college awarded its contract to Rhodes "due
to lower overall cost, breadth of experience, similarity of client base
and office proximity to the college."
The college's benefits committee and college administration stated in
the memo that Rhodes Insurance Group has "demonstrated a combination of
strong industry experience, independent thought process and advice,
cost-effective solutions and effective negotiation techniques."
